Our client an established and reputable membership organisation is looking for a Policy Advisor


The Role of Policy Advisor


You will play a crucial role in developing, delivering, and driving forward the membership organisation's policy goals and campaigning activities; supporting the Chief Executive to effectively represent members' concerns and the importance of early yearsand childcare for children's future life changes.


As part of this you will provide expertise on key policy areas; support to work with decision makers and campaigners to drive meaningful change for our members and the wider childcare and early years sector.


You will build relationships across key external stakeholders, monitor political and regulatory developments across England alongside the evolving evidence base to identify issues, develop our policy positions and deliver campaigns that will make a realdifference.


Person Specification


Considerable experience of having worked in the public affairs and campaigns field, with a network of key contacts and decision makers.

Excellent knowledge of the UK's political system and government structures. A thorough understanding of the Parliamentary and legislative process - and a clear history in managing political relationships.

Senior representation of organisations at meetings, events and to the media.

Working in partnership with external organisations and agencies.


Research, analytical and information gathering skills with the ability to process large amounts of detailed information and present them in a persuasive manner.

Proven success in campaigning to influence policy change in the UK, including engaging and mobilising members and practitioners.

A sharp news sense and a strong appetite for a broad range of media.

Use of social media to drive meaningful change.

UK government and parliamentary system.

Primary and secondary research techniques.
