Milk Education has the perfect role for you


We have partnered with a school in Liverpool who are seeking to appoint a full-time Learning Support Assistant to support the children with Autism in their setting.

The role is full-time and long-term with a potential view to go permanent.

You do not need to hold any formal qualifications for this role however to be considered for the position of Learning Support Assistant you must:

  • You must have transferable skills
  • Have good behaviour management
  • Be passionate and understanding
  • Have an understanding and knowledge of autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
  • Have recent (within 2 years) experience working with children/children with ASD
  • You must either have an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to get one through us here at Milk Education.

Specific duties and responsibilities of a Learning Support Assistant:

  • Work as a mentor (1-1 and in groups) with a view to helping them develop skills that equip them to better manage their behaviour and work constructively with others.
  • Plan and facilitate structured games and activities to support pupils to make appropriate choices during unstructured times such as lunch and break times.
  • Encourage the inclusion of pupils with additional needs by using positive behaviour management techniques designed to develop the pupil's ability to behave appropriately with the inclusion of behaviour management strategies set in place bythe school.
  • Provide specific support to this pupil dependent upon their individual needs and implement strategies to support this pupil with autism.
  • Model groupbased activities that will develop this pupil's problemsolving, listening, and social skills

For the role of Learning Support Assistant, you could have any of the following backgrounds:

  • Sports Coaching
  • Care Worker
  • Army Cadets
  • Psychology graduate
  • Tutoring children with SEN
  • Youth Worker
  • Working with exoffenders
  • Any previous experience with special educational needs
