We are pleased to invite experienced qualified staff to apply for the newly developed Band 7 ECT Lead Manager post for ECT services across our divisions. The right candidate will lead a team of ECT staff serving the Black Country older adult and adult mental health services.

    The post-holder will act as the clinical and functional lead in the ECT clinic, taking responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the clinic. This will include working in partnership with all disciplines involved with ECT across the Trust

    The post-holder will be responsible for the operational management, development and delivery of the above services, ensuring that they meet accepted quality and safety standards, in accordance with national and local guidelines. The post-holder will be required to lead, teach, supervise and support junior colleagues. The post-holder will offer clinical advice to professional colleagues in the services, and take a lead role in evaluation and research activities. The post Holder will be responsible for the delivery of ECT services across boroughs and will ensure the delivery of ECT meets the accepted quality and safety standards in accordance with national and local guidelines taking on a lead role in the evaluation, development and accreditation of the ECT service working closely with the Operational and Clinical Management senior team.

    Main duties of the job

    The post-holder will be responsible for the operational management, development and delivery of the above services, ensuring that they meet accepted quality and safety standards, in accordance with national and local guidelines. The post-holder will be required to lead, teach, supervise and support junior colleagues. The post-holder will offer clinical advice to professional colleagues in the services, and take a lead role in evaluation and research activities.

    The post holder will ensure compliance with all legislative and clinical guidance. In addition the ECT Clinical Lead Manager will have specific responsibility for ensuring and maintaining clinical and staff governance with particular emphasis on the ECT Accreditation standards (ECTAS) Guidance. Providing direct support guidance and education to BCHFT divisions will be a core component to the role.

    Detailed job description and main responsibilities

    To take the ECT Nurse lead in the organisation, to manage the operation and delivery of the ECT clinics, in conjunction with medical, nursing and other professional staff involved.To ensure that patients attending for ECT treatment (and their relatives/carers where appropriate), receive information relevant to their needs. To be responsible for the day-to-day effective and efficient management of nursing and support staff within the unit. To be responsible for activity planning and scheduling duty rotas, annual leave, study leave, monitoring absences and the use of temporary staff, promoting the use of Bank staff. Ensure that all staff act in accordance with Trust policies such as Infection Prevention and Control, Confidentiality, Health & Safety and Equal Opportunities. Lead on the development and update of ECTAS policies, SOPS and relevant ECTAS Standards required with Trust Policies and Procedures. To operationally manage the department including budget management, procurement management recruitment .To clinically lead the nursing team to appraise and supervise staff and delegate accordingly. To work of part of the wider Multi disciplinary team liaising across professions and sites in the management of ECT services and provision.
