    Surrey Downs Health & Care


    The Integrated MSK Service of Surrey Downs Health and Care is a developing and dynamic service boasting a Consultant Physiotherapist, Community Assessment and Triage Service (CATS), First Contact Practitioners (FCPs), Hand Therapy Team and Community MSK Outpatient service.


    The Integrated MSK Team of Surrey Downs Health & Care are looking to employ candidates with a variety of experience that would like to specialise in MSK or have already done so.


    The Successful candidate would be expected to represent Surrey Downs Health & Care Partnership, liaising directly with local health care contributors from the primary, secondary and tertiary care sectors.


    To participate in the band 6 rotational schedule which involves working across Surrey Downs in a range of outpatient settings including GP clinics, outpatient departments and community hospitals and Hand Therapy unit.

    To feedback and receive guidance from band 7 and Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioners (APPs).

    To formulate and deliver an individual physiotherapy treatment programme based on a sound knowledge of evidence based practice and treatment options to include developing comprehensive discharge
    To manage clinical risk within own patient caseload seeking guidance from band 7s or APPs as

    Work within Surrey Downs Health and Care and CSP clinical guidelines and to have a good working knowledge of national and local standards.

    To monitor own and others quality of practice as

    To make accurate and complete records of work undertaken and keep monthly statistics in line with CSP and physiotherapy department standards.

    To teach, assess and contribute to the performance assessment of junior physiotherapists and physiotherapy technical
    To maintain own clinical professional development (CPD) by keeping abreast of new developments and trends and incorporate them as necessary into your

    To actively participate in in-service training programme by attending and contributing to discussions and presentations including modelling for practical sessions.

    To participate in the Surrey Downs Health and Care appraisal scheme and formulate a personal development
    To be responsible for teaching student physiotherapists to graduate level on physiotherapeutic skills and knowledge within core clinical

    To participate in data collection and occasionally lead clinical audit within the Physiotherapy department or as part of the MDT.

    To be responsible for equipment used in carrying out physiotherapy duties and to adhere to departmental policies and guidelines to ensure safe use of equipment by yourself and physiotherapy assistants.

    To assist in the supervision and co-ordination of junior staff and assistants on a daily basis ensuring their practice as well as your own meets the required professional

    To attend Statutory and mandatory training in line with Surrey Downs Health and Care
    To adhere to all policies and procedures of the physiotherapy department of Surrey Downs Health and Care.
    Health and Safety

    The post holder will be required to observe local Health and Safety arrangements and take reasonable care of his/herself and persons that may be affected by his/her work ensuring compliance with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act
    To assist in the regular monitoring and maintenance of equipment in accordance with health and safety

    To act immediately on safety notices, hazard warning notices and any other notification in relation to equipment used/prescribed by the Physiotherapy Service.

    To take reasonable care of the health and safety of yourself and other persons who may be affected by the acts or omissions at work and to co-operate within Surrey Downs Health and Care to ensure that statutory and departmental regulations are adhered

    Safeguarding of children and child protection and vulnerable adults

    ~ It is the responsibility and duty of all staff to safeguard children and vulnerable adults and promote their welfare. Child protection and vulnerable adult safeguarding issues when identified or areas of concern must be referred by you promptly in accordance with Surrey Downs Health and Care policy and procedures. To assist in achieving this objective, it is essential that at all times employees carry out their duties in accordance with the organisations Equal Opportunities Policy respecting the differing backgrounds of colleagues and clients.

    In-service training and development programmes are provided including the NVQ

    Registered Health Professional

    ~ Working knowledge of broad range of musculoskeletal/older people conditions
    Knowledge and experience of safeguarding policies, practices and procedures

    Knowledge of wider MDT and interlinking services e.g. intermediate care, community physiotherapy, social care
    Awareness of paediatric MSK conditions

    Degree in physiotherapy
    Evidence of CPD including attendance at relevant post graduate training in appropriate clinical field

    Member of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
    NHS (or equivalent) experience as a band 5 in a broad range of rotational posts
    Experience of working as part of a physiotherapy and/or multidisciplinary team

    Experience of supervision of physiotherapy assistant or student
    Involvement in audit, research and understanding of quality issues
