The role
Our London office is currently recruiting a Business Development Manager on a 12 month maternity cover contract to support our: 1) Insurance and 2) Funds and Asset Management sector groups.


The position reports to the Director of BD, EMEA and will also work closely with the Global Head of Business Development, Financial Institutions.

They will work in close cooperation with EMEA and global MBD teams and have the support of a BD Executive andour Newcastle Hub.

They will implement strategically aligned, client focused and value-added MBD initiatives, ensuring key global, regional and practice objectives are achieved.


Key responsibilities

  • Planning and developing of business development activity and the targeting of marketing activity (all channels) for our: 1)Insurance and 2) Funds and Asset Management sector groups.
  • Working with the leadership groups of each team to development and implement annual business plans, budget proposals and campaign plans.
  • Managing our relationship with a small number of key sector clients.
  • Leading on profile raising initiatives, including events and partnerships with key external stakeholders such as industry bodies.
  • Leading both transactional and strategic bid pursuits.
  • Managing our branding and external positioning for the Insurance and Private Equity sectors.
  • Working closely with global sector and practice MBD colleagues to bring together teams to pursue client development opportunities.
  • Overseeing relevant award and directory submissions.
  • Acting as a key point of contact and ambassador for the practice with the wider business, MBD and other key stakeholders.
  • Establishing a close and effective relationship with the lawyers and partners within the sector and practice.
  • Managing practice and sector MBD budgets, including reporting of ROI.

Skills and Experience

  • A strong background in marketing and business development and the financial institutions sector is desirable, as is experience of working in a partnership environment.
  • Adept at working with stakeholders at all levels of seniority in an international business.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including rigorous attention to detail and ability to adapt communication style as needed.
  • Confident, persuasive and assertive.
  • Highly organised with a professional, confident, collaborative and proactive approach to their role.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, multiple tasks and stakeholders.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to lead and manage multistakeholder teams.
  • Graduate calibre
  • Ideally, demonstrable and/or professionally recognised marketing or communications qualification (such as CIM, etc.).
