Join our Rail UK team as a Signalling Supervisor and you'll be a big part of fascinating, complex, varied and meaningful work.
What you'll be doing
As a Signalling Supervisor you will have the following accountabilities:
- To manage site construction activities from design through to commissioning, taking ownership for the successful delivery of all signalling and small multi-discipline packages of work
- Interface with the client on technical matters on behalf of the project manager
- Optimise the use of materials and employees' time to ensure high productivity and low unit costs
- Identify any variations to Signalling work that may affect the contract, assisting with pricing and allocating time to them
- To undertake signalling installation work as directed and to provide direction and leadership to Signalling Installers and Assistant Signalling Installers as required as far as is reasonably practicable safeguard the health, safety and welfare of employees under your responsibility by providing:
- safe plant and equipment and safe systems of work
- necessary information, instruction, training and supervision
- a safe place to work, with safe access and egress
- a safe working environment with adequate welfare facilities
- Ensure a site diary is kept and site work records are returned to the Construction Manager
- Carry out installation work to Signalling Installation Handbook (SIH) standards
- Take responsibility for staff nominated as being under your control, including subcontractors
- Understanding of Signalling Installation Handbook, correct design drawings,
Who we're looking for
You will have the following:
- Basic computer operating skills with knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Ability to drive
- Use of Cable Avoidance Tool (CAT scanner)
- Good communication skills
- IRSE licence Signalling Installation Technician v2)
- SMTH & COSS or SWL
- Valid PTS with AC/DC
- Emergency first aid
- Manual handling
- Fire safety
- COSHH Appreciation
- Small tools
- Working in confined spaces
- Knowledge of railway signalling systems and subsystems
- Knowledge of appropriate industry standards relating to installation
- Knowledge of quality, health, safety and environmental Regulations
- Installation and Testing of various Points Operating Equipment
Desirable- Awareness of principles of risk assessment- Basic knowledge of health, safety, quality & environmental standards- Awareness of internal auditing
