    Since 1965, the University City Arts League, now commonly known as TheArts League (TAL), has been a beacon of artistic expression and cultural enrichment in West Philadelphia.TAL is a 501(c)3 nonprofit with the mission of providing a nurturing space where individuals of all ages and backgrounds can immerse themselves in the transformative power of the arts. From fostering creativity to building community partnerships, TAL is dedicated to making the arts accessible and impactful.

    As the Executive Director (ED) of TAL, you'll step into a pivotal role as the visionary leader guiding our organization's daily operations, strategic initiatives, fundraising, and community engagement efforts. Collaborating closely with our Board of Directors, dedicated staff, and passionate volunteers, you'll champion our mission and drive TAL toward its next phase of growth.

    Program Development and Oversight

    The Arts League has a multitude of youth, community, and adult programs happening throughout the year. Responsibilities would include:

    – Ensuring and supporting the continued excellence of our diverse arts programs, including after-school activities, summer camps, and adult classes.

    – Maintaining administrative oversight of the Community Arts Program, extending our reach and impact to local K-12 students.

    – Managing, staffing, and fulfilling all requirements for any program grants the organization may receive.

    Leadership and Management

    As Executive Director, you will play a vital role in cultivating a vibrant and inclusive workplace culture for staff, contractors, and volunteers. Responsibilities would include:

    – Cultivate a vibrant and inclusive workplace culture, attracting, retaining, and empowering a diverse team of staff (currently 3 full-time employees), teaching artist faculty, and volunteers.

    – Champion Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives, fostering an environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered

    – Developing and refining staff and contractor job descriptions.

    – Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

    – Maintaining a diverse, inclusive, equitable, supportive, and safe work environment.

    – Substituting for staff and contractors as needed.

    Strategic Planning and Financial Management

    The Arts League is sustained through a combination of program revenue, fundraising, and grant awards. Responsibilities would include:

    – Spearheading the development and execution of TAL's strategic plan, aligning organizational goals with community needs and opportunities.

    – Overseeing financial operations, including budgeting, fundraising, and contract management, ensuring fiscal responsibility and sustainability.

    – Actively and continuously seek and apply for relevant grants and other funding opportunities

    – Developing, maintaining, and facilitatingrelationships with all key stakeholders both new and longstanding.

    – Lead the planning of an overarching fundraising strategy, including grants, individual and major donations, and fundraising events.

    – Ensuring fiscal responsibility and sustainability by creating and maintaining the annual TAL Budget, with the support of the Board of Directors.

    – Overseeingfinancial operations including administrative payroll, contractor payroll, and vendor invoices.

    Organizational and Public Communications

    The Executive Director serves as the forefront leader and public face of The Arts League with ample opportunities to engage with the general public, community partners, local artists, and The Arts League team. Responsibilities would include:

    – Leading fundraising efforts and community outreach initiatives, establishing meaningful connections with donors, partners, and supporters.

    – Servingas the primary liaison to the Board of Directors, providing regular updates and collaborating on key decisions.

    -Providingmonthly community updates via The Arts League monthly digest and Constant Contact.

    Additional Responsibilities :

    – Collaborate with programming staff to ensure the maintenance and cleanliness of our facility, a 100-year-old Victorian home, creating a welcoming environment for all.

    – Select and oversee curated gallery exhibitions, showcasing the talent and creativity of local artists.

    – Manage our rentals program, providing opportunities for individuals and organizations to engage with our space.

    – If needed, provide hands-on instructional support for youth programs and summer camps, fostering a safe and enriching experience for participants.

    Qualifications :

    – Bachelor's degree required, minimum five years of experience in the nonprofit sector or a related field, leadership experience a plus

    – Demonstrated passion for arts education and community empowerment.

    – Proven track record in financial management, fundraising, and strategic planning.

    – Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with a commitment to fostering inclusivity and collaboration

    – Excellent and precise attention to detail

    – Flexible and adaptable, thriving in a dynamic and evolving environment.

    – Self-directed and proactive, with the ability to take initiative and lead with vision.

    – Experience working with a Board of Directors is a plus.

    – Experienced at public speaking, comfortable speaking with community members and key stakeholders.

    – Proven outcomes in financial management, fundraising, and strategic planning with an ability to interpret financial reports.

    $57,000 – $60,000 annual, full-time position, on-site work required, healthcare stipend, and paid time off offered
