    All Age Disabilities Service - Adult Short Breaks and Supported Living Network

    Social Care Assistant (2 posts)

    25 hours per week

    Permanent

    £30,562 - £31,220 pro rata / £ £16.18 per hour (including Shift Allowance and Distant Islands Allowance)

    Adult Short Breaks and Supported Living Network is based in Kirkwall and offers support to adults who have learning disabilities in their own tenancies as well as a short breaks service for those who live with families/carers in the community.

    This post will predominantly be based in the Supported Living Network, Core and Cluster part of the service, with deployment across the service as required.

    Working both on an individual basis and as a member of a team you will adopt a person centered approach to deliver a high standard of flexible and responsive care to service users within the Supported Living Network service.

    You will provide support and assistance to service users to maximise and maintain their independence and to access community facilities and have an awareness of and contribute to the Support Planning process.

    You should have experience of and with people who have Learning Disabilities, be committed to the principles of social inclusion and have a good understanding of the agenda for change within Learning Disability services.

    You should hold an SVQ 2 in Health & Social Care or other relevant qualification(s) to enable registration with SSSC or where the qualification is not held, there is a requirement to achieve the relevant qualification(s) within 5 years of appointment.

    You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.

    This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with adults.
