We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Business Partner to join our organisation.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is able to provide Finance Business Partnering support to PDSE's Senior Management Team and Board.

This is a full time position for 37.5 hours per week.


Peninsula Dental Social Enterprise (PDSE) is a subsidiary of the University of Plymouth and an award-winning Social Enterprise and Community Interest Company.


We provide NHS treatment and outreach services to local communities in Devon and Cornwall and we work closely with the University of Plymouth's Peninsula Dental School to support the clinical education of its dental healthcare students.

Role Summary:

Peninsula Dental Social Enterprise (PDSE) is an award winning Community Interest Company.

We provide primary care dental services to local communities in Devon and Cornwall, working closely with the University of Plymouth's Peninsula Dental School to support the clinical education of its dental healthcare students.


PDSE is a subsidiary of the University of Plymouth, the role holder will work closely with the university's finance team as our reporting and planning cycles align with that of the university.


Working as part of PDSE's Central Team the role will provide professional, financial and accountancy advice to PDSE Management Team and budget holders.


The role includes:


  • Responsible for the finance function within PDSE
  • Oversight of the monthly management accounts with accompanying commentary for the senior management team
  • Oversight of the annual and long term forecasts in line with the university's planning cycle.
  • Monitor and review performance against forecast and other relevant reporting mechanisms and metrics
  • Presentation and articulation of financial information at Board level, and local management team level
  • Liaising with auditors with regard to Audit and Year End accounts
  • Oversee payroll processing
  • Provide strategic decisionmaking support to the senior management team
  • Inform the continuous development of PDSE's finance strategy using information and understanding of the business and emerging needs to ensure service delivery continues to be fit for purpose.
  • Deal appropriately with informal and formal performance concerns in line with the PDSE's policies for managing performance.
  • Follow the appropriate financial and regulatory policies and procedures ensuring necessary regulations and standards are adhered to.
  • Lead and influence appropriate PDSE projects outside of immediate work area

Knowledge, Education & Training:


  • CIMA, ACCA or ACA qualified with previous experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge and awareness of accounting policies and procedures
  • Excellent numeracy and literacy skills
  • Experience using full suite of MS Office programme

Experience:


  • Significant finance experience
  • Experience of using a finance computer system
  • Experience of providing costing information in the support of business case
  • Working independently in a team environment
  • Working in a professional service environment

Skills:


  • Financial forecasting, budgeting and management accountancy skills
  • Advanced excel skills, statistical modelling and interpretation of data and information
  • Diagnostic skills e.g. strategic analysis and evaluation
  • Experience of dealing with a range of nonfinancial data, linking activity and financial data to provide relevant information
  • Ability to build rapport, trust and credibility with a range of customers
  • Effective business planning skills
  • High level communication skills verbal and written
  • Experience of working with education and healthcare contract negotiations and management is desirable
