We have an exciting opportunity for a Decontamination Team Leader to join our Decontamination Team in Plymouth full time.


We are looking for a proactive and efficient person to lead our Decontamination Team, managing the effective operation of our Decontamination Suite.

Our Decontamination team provide a crucial service across all four Dental Education Facilities, ensuring sufficient equipment is provided to the Clinical Teams within appropriate turnaround timeframes.

Peninsula Dental Social Enterprise (PDSE) are an award-winning Social Enterprise and Community Interest Company.

We provide NHS treatment and outreach services to local communities in Devon and Cornwall and we work closely with the University of Plymouth's Peninsula Dental School to support the clinical education of its dental healthcare students.

Decontamination Team Leader

Directly responsible for:
Decontamination Assistants


Role Summary:


To manage the effective and efficient operation of the Decontamination Suite, ensuring sufficient equipment is provided to the clinical areas of the Dental Education Facilities (DEFs) within appropriate turnaround timeframes, whilst leading and managing the Decontamination Team.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Operational management of the decontamination process to ensure a sufficient supply of decontaminated instruments are available for staff and students across all sites
  • Management of the decontamination processes in compliance with the relevant current guidance and regulations
  • Liaise with the Maintenance Team to schedule and support equipment maintenance and servicing where appropriate
  • Develop and propose improvements through increased effectiveness, efficiency and added value
  • Line management of the team
  • Ensure all activities are undertaken in compliance with Equality & Diversity
  • Responsible for recruiting and developing decontamination staff
  • Responsible for liaising with relevant courier services and overseeing the smooth operation of courier timetables.

Knowledge, Education and Training:


  • Good level of numeracy and literacy
  • Understanding of process management and procedures
  • Understanding of stock control and stock rotation

Experience:


  • Previous experience of leading and developing a team
  • Previous experience of staff management

Skills:


  • Methodical and organised approach to managing staff and workflow, and resolving issues
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work as a manager in a team environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Be proactive to complete tasks to meet deadlines
  • This role can be physically demanding and involves a high level of physical activity. The post holder must be capable of lifting & carrying and moving equipment using trolleys.

This post requires Hepatitis B immunisation and other health clearance as stipulated by Occupational Health.
