    Description
    We have a vacancy for a Band 6 Senior Occupational Therapist at Parklands House Oak and Aspen wards. We are looking for somebody who has relevant experience in the OT profession who can help guide the team.


    We are an adult, working age mental health unit with two 22 bed wards for males and females in the Oldham area.


    The successful applicant will be working with an existing team consisting of 1 Band 6 OT, 1 QAP and 4 OTA's.

    To identify and assess Occupational Therapy need and plan therapeutic interventions using the Model of Human Occupation

    To liaise, plan and co-ordinate with other professional agencies, including CMHT, Housing, Third sector agencies to ensure continuity of care and quality service.

    To participate in ward rounds, discharge planning meetings, care plan reviews, Best Interest meetings, and informal discussions concerning patients.

    To be responsible for writing accurate and concise clinical reports using Model of Human Occupation outcome measures and to ensure up to date and accurate records are maintained regarding all patient contact.

    BSc Occupational Therapy
    Registration with the Health Professionals Council
    Training in Model of Human Occupation
    Post registration diploma or equivalent experience in relevant field

    Experience of applying the OT process with people with acute mental health needs
    Experience of competent performance at Band 5 in an acute mental health setting.
    Experience of contributing to MDT risk assessments
    Knowledge of Occupational Therapy Process
    Understanding of specific needs of clients with mental health problems and their impact on occupational functioning

    Sound understanding of current government policies in relation to Acute Care including national guidelines, Mental Health Act, Risk Assessment processes and CPA processes.

    Awareness of Occupational Therapy Model of Human Occupation Assessment Tools and other OT models
    Interest in engaging in Occupational Therapy service development.

    Ability to provide clinical supervision for junior staff / support staff and OT students.

    Demonstration of professionalism through good timekeeping, adherence to policies and maintaining strong relations within the MDT
    Basic level of computer literacy
    Use of a car or access to a means of mobility to travel across the Trust footprint in line with service needs
    Willing to carry out all duties and responsibilities of the post in accordance with the Trust's Equal Opportunities and Equality and Diversity policies
