The Property and Procurement function covers all the categories of third party spend in the Bank.

The function is regarded as a key enabler in achieving the cost reduction plans of the Bank through the identification and adoption of innovative third partysourcing solutions aimed at driving maximum value from all VM engagements with third parties.


You'll be responsible for collaborating and networking across the Bank, with a specific focus on technology infrastructure and associated spend procurement, establishing strong links with key business stakeholders and developing relationships with new andexisting third-parties.

This role in a nutshell:


  • Procurement Category Lead for IT Infrastructure and associated spend (hardware, software, support, and professional services), responsible for creating and maintaining a category sourcing strategy and category plan. As well as this category you will alsolead on other initiatives across the wider Property & Procurement function.
  • You will also support delivering technology initiatives across VM's strategic programmes.
  • You will be an integral colleague within the Enterprise Infrastructure Procurement Team. As a key Team member, you will be flexible and where Stakeholder and Customer demand requires will deliver procurements out with your category.
  • Delivery of Savings Target for your category and in line with the Procurement targets and the savings target of the business areas that you support.
  • Creating strong and effective relationships with key stakeholders across the Bank, as well as with key supplier relationships.
  • Leading tendering processes and complex procurement initiatives, ensuring that all stakeholder requirements are met within required timeframes and result in the most commercially attractive terms and conditions for the Bank.
  • Providing leadership and guidance across VM and Procurement on sourcing approaches and execution.
  • Leading Procurement initiatives and opportunities and supporting with departmental priorities.
  • Representing Procurement, both internally and externally at relevant Business Review Meetings and Governance Meetings.

To be successful for this role you'll have

  • Resilience and confidence when operating in an environment where change is the norm.
  • Procurement expertise and experience in general sourcing, outsourcing and offshoring.
  • Ability to understand complex contractual documentation and identification of key issues.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with senior colleagues / stakeholders and to network across the Bank.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Ability to cope with multiple priorities in a changing environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills with the ability to influence in a collaborative manner.

We'd love it if you had

  • Awareness of Financial Services thirdparty risk management regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of the Supply Chains and Supply Markets, Sourcing Strategies, Category Plans and Opportunities.
  • Knowledge of software licensing models, hardware and support, and professional services engagements.
  • Awareness of industry trends in procurement and sourcing and in banking specifically in relation to sourcing opportunities.
  • Awareness of tools and techniques, processes and practices of innovative sourcing and commercial negotiation techniques.
  • Knowledge of Risk Process.
  • Sound understanding of Commercial and Legal Language.
