Young People's Support Worker

Hours:14 per week


Salary:
£22,500 (rising to £23,000 after successfully completing a 6-Month probationary Period)
Pro-rated.

Contract:
Fixed term until March 2025


Location:
Gwent - Agile Working, working flexibly to meet the needs of the young people and the business.


_Optional base in Newport, Torfaen, Monmouthshire or Blaenau Gwent, role requires regular travel across these areas._

Purpose of the Post:

To provide support to young people who are affected by Violence against Women and Girls, Domestic Abuse and/or Sexual violence (VAWDASV)


To support young people who have grown up in households where VAWDASV is present, and young people who are experiencing intimate partner violence in their own relationships.

The interventions will engage with communities where young people are at risk of "honour" based violence, forced marriage, and/or FGM.


To provide a trauma informed service that is tailored to the individual needs of these young people by delivering predominantly one to one support and providing them with an opportunity to learn and openly talk about VAWDASV and how it affects them.


Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialist VAWDASV support services to young people between the ages of years, using a personcentred and trauma informed approach.
  • Carry out individual risk assessments, initial needs and support assessments for young people to determine what level of service is appropriate.
  • To work in collaboration and refer high risk cases to the organisation's Young Person Independent Domestic Violence Advisor.
  • Carry out regular, planned, person centred, one to one sessions with young people.
  • Ensure that young people's needs are assessed regularly and support plans are in place and being adhered too.
  • Build relationships based on trust and respect with all young people so that they feel safe and listened too.
  • To promote your role and develop referral pathways.
  • Attend and contribute to multi agency meetings in relation to the wellbeing and safety of young person.
  • Be aware of Child Protection policy and procedures and act on any concerns or information regarding the safeguarding of any children and young people that you come into contact with.
  • Ensure accurate records are maintained in relation to all aspects of the service, inputting information into the organisations Information Management System.
  • Assist in qualitative and quantitative data collation.
  • To use initial and exit outcome forms to measure outcomes and evaluate work completed.
  • Engage young people in participating in service development and reviews.
  • Demonstrate and promote the organisation's ethos, vision and values.
  • Keep abreast of regulation changes within HR related topics, attend training, develop networks to support development in the role.
  • Contribute to the protection and enhancement of the organisation's reputation.
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision and appropriate training.
  • Work within the Cyfannol's Policies and Procedures.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as required as requested by your line manager.
