About the role:


We are looking for a talented, motivated individual to join the Biostatistics Research Group to undertake methodological development funded by the NIHR Leicester Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) Data Innovation for multiple long term conditions and ethnic health theme.

We are looking for an excellent postdoctoral researcher, who wants to develop their own research interests in an area which aligns to the NIHR Leicester BRC objectives and the research interests of the Biostatistics Research Group, which could include one or more of:

  • Experimental research design, including novel adaptive designs and early phase studies
  • Prognostic modelling
  • Evidence synthesis of experimental studies to inform latter phase studies and/or personalised medicine
  • Health data science
  • Optimising the use of real world data.


The post-holder will work closely with senior academics/researchers and other team members to develop and conduct a programme of methodological research which aligns to their expertise and the requirements of the BRC.

They will also be expected to provide statistical support to the applied research studies conducted across the other areas of the BRC.

There is also an opportunity to collaborate with other key groups within the University including the Leicester Real World Evidence Unit and the Genetic Epidemiology Group.


About you:


As the successful applicant, you will have a PhD, or equivalent experience, in medical statistics (or a related field), with experience of methodological development.

You will be motivated by conducting research that will benefit patients and will be adept at communicating your research to non-specialist audiences as well as to scientists and clinicians in other disciplines.

You will have effective interpersonal skills and be prepared to work successfully as part of a team, as well as the ability to work independently to deliver high quality research.
