A vacancy has arisen within Wessex Reserve Forces' & Cadets' Association for a Cadet Administrative Assistant to support the County of Dorset Army Cadet Force based in Dorchester.


The Wessex Reserve Forces' & Cadets' Association (RFCA) is an independent, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting and promoting the 4,500 tri-service Reservists and 14,600 Cadets across the seven counties of the South West (Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Dorset, Gloucestershire Wiltshire, the City & County of Bristol) plus the Channel Islands, as well as providing support and assistance to the employers of Reservists and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers.


As an organisation we engage with the community in order to improve understanding of the roles and needs of the Armed Forces in general and the Reserve and Cadet Forces in particular.

We are dedicated to raising awareness of the contribution they make to the nation and our region.

Applicants should preferably have served as a Warrant Officer or Senior Non Commissioned Officer in the Armed Forces and will be responsible for administration and equipment matters relating to Detachments across the county of Dorset.

The salary (all hours worked) is £26,506.00 per annum.

Annual leave, excluding public holidays, is 25 days per annum rising to 30 days after 5 years service. Previous service in the public sector will count towards qualifying years' service.

The successful applicant will be eligible to elect to join the Council of RFCAs Pension Scheme. This is a Career Average Revalued Earnings (CARE) Scheme.

GENERAL

  • The Cadet Administrative Assistant (CAA) is a full time employee of the Wessex Reserve Forces' and Cadets' Association (Wx RFCA) and is a Crown Servant. As a member of the Permanent Support Staff (PSS), they will be responsible to the Cadet Executive Officer (CEO) of Dorset Army Cadet Force (ACF) for administration and equipment matters relating to several mal-located ACF Detachments. The Dorset County Headquarters is based in Dorchester (DT1 1SZ), with individual Detachments spread across the County of Dorset.
  • The job includes some weekend and out of hours evening work.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Responsibilities and duties of the CAA include:
a.

Acting in a 'caretaker' role for all ACF sites under his/her responsibility, managing the condition of buildings and outside areas in order to maintain operational effectiveness and high standards of the estate.

Responsibilities include coordination of all maintenance (work services) and inspections at all sites, as well as the reporting of infrastructure faults to Wx RFCA.

This includes monitoring of health and safety and monthly fire safety checks associated with the estate.

b. Conducting and producing Site Risk Assessments for all sites in their area and to include sites with rifle ranges.

c.

Implementing frost and winter precautions at allocated ACF sites when necessary, whilst monitoring mains services, water testing, heating, lighting and cleaning operation/standards at those locations.

d. Provision, accounting, care and replacement of equipment and stores at allocated ACF sites across Dorset.

e. Issue of and accounting for equipment required to support affiliated ACF Company led training events.

f. Providing administrative and logístical support to all affiliated ACF Company training events and activities.

To include vehicle requests (FMT 1000s) for relevant Detachment and/or Company training activities, as well as feeding requests for Company events.

This booking process is staffed through the CQM for processing on the MOD's Phoenix and Clarity MIS.

g.

The booking and compilation of ACF training/activities requests via Form 907 and administration as authorised by the CEO, County Training Officer and/or Cadet Quartermaster (CQM).

Responsibilities include attending the scheduled monthly Salisbury Plain Training Area (SPTA) booking conferences and representing affiliated ACF Companies for all their planned training activities on SPTA.

h.

Responsibility for the security of arms assigned to their ACF Detachments, to include the duty of second key holder for weapon storage sites.

This responsibility includes controlling the access to Wilts ACF's main armouries and also responding to callouts during working hours in the event of activation of armoury alarms.
