Weston Shore Infant School is looking for a confident, motivated and enthusiastic apprentice to join our friendly and supportive team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a unique one-form entry infant school environment, gaining and enhancing your skills and knowledge of administration, while working towards a Level 3 Business Administrator qualification.


32.5 hours per week (Monday - Friday)

Term time only

£6.50 per hour

Duties will include -

  • To undertake the specified apprenticeship to achieve a nationally recognised qualification.
  • To report for duty on time at work and college as detailed by the employer and training provider
  • To complete daily/weekly attendance records.
  • To gather evidence as instructed by the training provider in order to compile a portfolio for end point assessment.
  • To attend meetings and/or training as set out by the training provider at the start of the apprenticeship.
  • To undertake typing / wordprocessing of simple documents and to collate and distribute them as appropriate.
  • To undertake basic clerical duties, under the guidance of the Business Manager, including record keeping, photocopying, filing, data entry.
  • To collect, record, compile and input data both manually and electronically, in order to maintain comprehensive, up to date electronic and paper (where required) filing and information systems.
  • To run reports and use the data to create letters using mail merge, inputting into customer tracking software where appropriate. To collect money and record payments for school meals, trips and events.
  • To monitor pupils' attendance, under the guidance of the Assistant Headteacher and Business Manager.
  • To stock take, tidy and maintain office equipment.
  • To provide clerical support to the teaching staff, including bulk photocopying and basic preparation of materials.
  • To provide welfare support to the pupils of the school. This may include undertaking minor first aid duties and assisting children with personal hygiene.
  • To carry out any other administrative or clerical procedure, within the responsibility level of the post, as directed by the Senior Leadership team or Business Manager.
  • Support the aims, values, mission and ethos of the school and participate in a team approach to all aspects of school life.
  • Attend and contribute to staff meetings and INSET days as required, and identify areas of personal practice and experience to develop.
  • Take appropriate responsibility for safeguarding and children's welfare with awareness of confidential issues linked to home/child/teacher/school and keep confidences appropriately.
  • Be aware of health and safety issues and act in accordance with the school's Health and Safety Policy.]
- have at least 4 GCSEs at grade C/4 or higher including English and Maths
- have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel
- have excellent organisational and communication skills
- have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- be able to communicate effectively with colleagues, pupils, parents and visitors
