The Opportunity_**A new opportunity has become available for a Senior Finance Business Partner - Solar, Storage & Private Wire where you'll be the key link between the business and other experts in the finance team.


You'll work alongside management to support the delivery of the Business Unit's business objectives, including understanding the drivers of long-term performance to facilitate decision making in areas such as strategy and capital expenditure priorities.

In addition to other partnering the role may include direct line management responsibilities.

If not, the Senior Finance Business Partner provides professional guidance to other members of the Finance Business Partner team and supports the Finance Manager - SSPW in coordinating the work of the team.

What you'll be doing_**A key challenge for this role is the need to build trusting relationships with the managers they partner with, allowing honest and challenging conversations to happen and improve accuracy, performance and decision making.


  • Partner with the Business Unit and deliver pertinent analysis to improve their financial performance on spaces such as cash flow and profitability.
  • Constructively challenge the Business Unit and provide innovative solutions to lead to financial and operational improvements being made.
  • Coach and mentor other members of the Finance Business Partner team to assist the Finance Manager
  • SSPW with leading the team.
  • Manage the relationship between the Finance department and business areas to ensure that the needs of both areas are mutually understood, and processes are delivered efficiently.
  • Support risk management by ensuring business risks are recorded, assessed and monitored (including mitigations).
  • Assist the development of financial forecasts for the Business Unit and ensure the forecasts are reviewed and updated on a regular basis.
  • Responsible for developing dashboarding, analytics and management information to support effective decision making in the Business Unit and assist the Head of Finance and Finance Manager in holding the Business Unit to account.
  • Understand the P&L, net investment, cashflow management, FTE, MWs, capacities reporting and risk and opportunities for the segment/ division of the Business Unit.
  • Assist in liaising with the group finance team to ensure group requirements are achieved.
  • Assist in the management of cash for the BU, producing cash forecasts, drawing down for acquisitions, business growth spend and managing the Dividend process.
  • Monitor the Business Unit's compliance with key processes to (e.g. integrity and assurance on project costs).

What do you need to be great at this role?_**You will hold an accounting qualification (CTA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent) with two to four years' post-qualification experience in a similar role.


  • Must have experience of presenting detailed financial information to finance and nonfinance audiences, adapting the message accordingly.
  • Experience of the energy or services industry is desirable.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills, for example through coaching and mentoring other members of the team.
  • Able to support the Finance Manager
  • SSPW in leading the team.
  • Able to provide robust but diplomatic challenge to managers, based on evidence and analysis.
  • Have consulting skills to ask the right questions and get to the route of issues.
  • Able to work as part of a team across different business functions and with colleagues at different levels of seniority.
  • Has a high level of resilience able to work in a fastpaced organisation and prioritise conflicting activities.
