Salary:
Grade 4: £

£27,123 per annum

Contract type: 12-month fixed term contract (maternity cover)

Working hours:
Full time (35 hours a week), standard working hours between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Purpose of the role


We are looking to appoint an experienced editor / internal communications officer to join the Corporate Communications and Publishing (CC&P) team for 12 months.

This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and organised individual to provide an effective editorial service and internal comms support to the RCP, delivering projects and materials to a high standard and on time.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Copyediting and proofreading text to ensure that all material is produced to house style and to a high editorial and presentational standard.
  • Project managing the production of a variety of print and digital materials for a range of audiences.
  • Restructuring and rewriting content as necessary to ensure clarity and coherence.
  • Providing support for internal communications at the RCP, including supporting the daytoday running of Spark, the RCP's intranet, and leading work on the weekly staff newsletter.

About you:


  • Educated to degree level (preferably in life sciences) or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience of copyediting and proofreading accurately according to a defined house style.
  • Experience of writing, rewriting and restructuring copy according to purpose, style of publication and audience.
  • Confident in using intranet and website content management systems.
  • Experience of generating and supporting ideas for staff engagement.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat, including fully competent user of Word.
  • Experience of working in a healthcarerelated organisation.
  • Experience in marking up artwork and liaising with designers.
