Main Purpose of the Role


As Maintenance Section Head of the Markinch Biomass Combined Heat & Power Plant you will ensure a safe and reliable operation while taking responsibility for the condition and commercial availability of the plant.

As Maintenance Section Head you are responsible for managing and coordinating the Site Maintenance Team.

You ensure that maintenance activities are continuously optimised to maximise the value of the asset as part of the overall generation portfolio.

You will report directly to the Markinch Plant Manager. You will be expected to work in close collaboration with your colleagues within Operations, Asset Management and Engineering.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure a costeffective plant operation by delivering the agreed engineering and maintenance strategies, also taking into account process safety, overall plant integrity, environmental boundaries and compliance with business processes.
  • Play a leading and active role in managing safety: live our performance and Mission Zero safety culture and climate, and truly and authentically inspire your team to do the same; progress continuous improvement in safety, wellbeing and environmental performance.
  • Deliver daytoday maintenance and respond to unplanned equipment failure.
  • Collaborate with E&O for planning and executing of overhauls, projects and modifications.
  • Continuously optimise processes and working methods to improve the working environment and to achieve operational excellence.
  • Support the convergence of Maintenance and Operations activities by embracing a culture of cross skilling to improve flexibility and create development opportunities for employees.
  • Develop, motivate and promote the employees of the Maintenance Team to secure talent and develop skills and competencies.
  • Develop a team that will work flexibly to support each other irrespective of their background discipline.
  • Manage procurement activities and act as Technical officer for contracts. Actively manage internal and external stakeholders.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Preferably educated to University Degree/Higher National Diploma/Certificate and a technical background (e.g. Mechanical/Electro/Process/Chemical Engineering), or comparable qualification.
  • Relevant working experience in maintenance and project management.
  • Strong HSE and wellbeing mindset.
  • Team leadership: ability to lead, inspire, manage and delegate effectively and ability to develop themselves and their people to their full potential.
  • Performance orientation: selfmotivated to drive the business, increase performance and deliver results paired with ability to solve complex technical issues.
  • Transformation management: ability to lead teams through change processes.
  • Growth mindset: selfreflective personality, able to learn and act on feedback. Business fluent in English.
