Description

Purpose of Role
This role will form a part of the sound team within our Technical Services division.


You will be responsible for delivering a high standard of sound production and technical support to a wide range of performances across various genres of activity.


Organisational relationships

Line Manager:_ Head of Sound

Key Relationships:_Head of Technical Services
,Production Manager, Conferencing team.

Direct Reports:_ You will supervise Technicians, Casual workers & Freelancers as required, for specific projects or processes.

External Relationships:_Visiting designers, touring managers and technicians.


Location
Your principal location of work is Perth Theatre and Perth Concert Hall, Mill Street, Perth.

You will be expected to work between both buildings and occasionally in other locations such as touring with productions and undertaking other projects off site.

There may be opportunity to focus your work toward either theatre (Perth Theatre) or Live Music and Events (Perth Concert Hall)


Duties and Responsibilities

Management


You will deputise for the Head of Sound, both in their absence from work and where immediate decisions are required within the venue or production on which you are posted.


You will manage the team on the projects you are overseeing, ensuring they are scheduled appropriately and informed of the work to be undertaken.


Specialist


Staying a fresh of all industry developments you will ensure that you are familiar with current, safe and effective techniques for the delivery of production sound in both a Theatre and Live events environment.

You work to ensure that all sound equipment is thoroughly maintained, compliant and ready for use as required.


You will oversee the practical delivery of productions working both with visiting designers, in house production leads and colleagues within the technical team to ensure delivery of stable and effective sound solutions.

You will use your skills to mix, record and broadcast events and production, both pre plotted and live.

You will support the practical delivery sound requirements across the organisation from rigging to programming.


You will support colleagues in the team with networking of technical systems and with the delivery of Audio Visual for events.


You will use your skills to design and operate systems suitable for conferences, live events, community work and other similar productions.

You will share your skills with our community as a core of our Learning and Engagement program.


You will attend production meetings, undertake advance preparations, testing and facilitation for productions and support the progression of performances from start to finish as required.


Technical Team


Alongside your colleagues in the technical team, you will support all aspects of the department's workload using your skills across all disciplines to deliver the company program of work, including stage duties, format changes and technical cover.


Health and Safety
You will ensure you keep up to date with current H&S regulations relevant to the industry and any changes.

Ensuring a safe working environment and that all safe practices are adhered to including house polices, SSOW and compliance with statutory obligations, keeping suitable records maintained.

You will risk assess your areas of work and ensure that all hazards are suitably and effectively controlled.


Responsibilities of all staff
To be aware of the work of other departments in the delivery of the company's charitable objectives.

You will take an active part in communicating and co-operating with other staff and departments, contribute to an enthusiastic, positive work climate within the organisation and take an active part in achieving high standards of customer and client care.


You will be attending team meetings as well as all internal and external meetings as required, follow all company procedures and policies and work in accordance with the Equality & Diversity Policy of Perth Theatre and Concert Hall.

Person Specification


You will be a highly motivated, experienced, and creative professional taking on a pivotal role in the delivery of performances and events.

You will have experience of delivering sound production in a live environment and be practiced at working with a range of creative individuals to assess and deliver on their needs.


You will work closely with the Head of Sound and Head of Technical Services to ensure that suitable consideration and planning is made for the delivery of sound on all projects and will openly share your knowledge and understanding of practical delivery to ensure a smooth production process.
