    Locum/ Bank Sonographer opportunity

    Vernova Healthcare is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, self motivated bank practitioner to join our small, but friendlyultrasound team. Our top priority is to ensure our NHS service remains patientfocused, providing safe, effective and efficient care within a localcommunity setting.

    Ultrasoundclinics are delivered from the following sites within Eastern Cheshire usingnewly replaced GE ultrasound equipment.

    Macclesfield Health Hub & East Cheshire Trust

    Knutsford & District Community Hospital

    Congleton Memorial Hospital

    Handforth Clinic

    The successful applicant will be required to work independentlyacross these sites but also as part of a wider team, healthcare assistants form part of our valued team and support all sessions.

    We promote effective communication and engagement, meeting regularly for service/clinical updates including peer review audit/feedback.

    Main duties of the job

    Working as part of a small but experienced team, you will report directly to the Lead Sonographer. Your remit will be to be independently responsible for carrying out and reporting on non-obstetric ultrasound examinations to a high standard, in line with local and national guidelines. Holding a CASE accredited ultrasound qualification (PgCert, PgDip) you must be eligible to work in the United Kingdom with HCPC/NMC/ equivalent registration. The successful candidate will have excellent clinical skills and experience in general, gynaecological and superficial/small parts scanning. MSK and/or head and neck experience would also be an advantage.

    Job description

    Job responsibilities

    To undertake arange of ultrasound examinations in line with local, regional, and nationalguidelines

    To assess the suitabilityof examination referrals and prioritise according to clinical urgency.

    To provide high standards of patient care in a safe clean workingenvironment.

    To provide general abdominal, pelvic, somesmall parts and MSK (if appropriately trained) diagnostic ultrasoundexaminations at various sites within Eastern Cheshire.

    To work independently and autonomously,providing diagnostic ultrasound examinations to a high clinical standard,including interpretation and production of a clinical report for eachultrasound scan undertaken.

    To use the CRIS system for hot reportingall examinations as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures.

    To work as part of a small team and activelydevelop, participate and contribute to matters concerning clinical governance,relevant programs of clinical audit and assessment.

    To deliver appropriate, sensitive, andindividualised patient care at all times, with a focus on patient experience.

    To carry out all techniques as anunsupervised independent practitionerTo ensure that professional and technicalknowledge/expertise is kept up to date and to maintain a portfolio to showevidence of continuous professional development. To act at all times in a manner that upholds the CIC core values workingas part of the team to ensure that patients, relatives and carers receiveexcellent care with ensure own professional regulatory andaccreditation requirements are maintained

    To contribute and engage in any governanceissues give full co-operation in any investigations of a complaint or untowardincident and comply with company procedure to that effect

    Person Specification

    Experience

    Essential

  • Experience working as a Sonographer within the NHS.
  • Extensive independent clinical practice in ultrasound.
  • Evidence of continual professional development (CPD).
  • Ability to give effective feedback and to liaise with a wide range of individuals.
  • Ability to demonstrate and understand the principles of Sonography

    • Desirable

  • Experience of Musculoskeletal Scanning and/or Head and Neck
  • Evidence of multi-modality knowledge.
  • An understanding of recent developments within the NHS.
  • Service Provision in a community setting

    • Qualifications

    Essential

  • BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Imaging or DCR PG Dip in Medical Ultrasound
  • Registration with a professional healthcare body (HCPC/NMC).

    • Desirable

  • Additional modular qualification, modules, or training.

    • Skills, Knowledge & Competencies

  • Knowledge of a range of ultrasound examinations
  • An understanding of clinical governance and evidence-based practice
  • Understanding of confidentiality and data protection
  • Proven ability to deliver effective, high quality and efficient patient care.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and flexibly whilst adapting communication style to the needs of the patient, carers, or colleagues.
  • To be an effective advocate for patients.
  • Ability to work to set timeframes tight whilst prioritising and managing conflicting tasks.
  • Ability to comprehend and work within scope of expertise and work within set policies and protocols
  • Excellent communication skills to facilitate good working relationships
  • Negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Including report preparation.
  • Computer literate.
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team.
  • Ability to move and operate a range of specific equipment with manual dexterity
