Senior Project Manager
Reporting to the Head of Engineering
Based in:
Wilton International, Teesside
Salary:

This position is responsibility for the successful conclusion of capital engineering and construction projects and to oversee both the Project Engineering and Project Execution teams to ensure that the portfolio of capital projects is completed on time andwithin budget, to a high standard and in a safe manner.
Key responsibilities:
Maintain a proactive and positive team ethos.
Be commercially aware and adhere to commercial governance in all activities
Provide leadership to strategically manage risk, monitor finances and ensure each phase of work is started or completed on time.
Develop project quality procedures
Make strategic decisions in a timely manner and providing leadership and direction to project managers to implement those decisions
Devise cost-effective plans and strategies during project development
Be willing to challenge/remove blockers that stop the Projects team successfully completing their jobs be it from internal or external factors
Manage risks to avoid delays or reputational damage
Provide leadership, advice, guidance, and coaching to the project managers and develop everyone to be well rounded and skilled in all aspects of project management and engineering
Coordinate projects resource to ensure optimum resource strength at all times
Contracting with outside agencies for support on a need basis
Ensure optimum performance from the Projects team through optimum resource loading, monitoring individual and team morale, developing effective relationships and team camaraderie
Recommend and implement recovery plans for ongoing projects that appear not to be proceeding on schedule or are producing unsatisfactory results
Develop an alternate course of action for completing a job should the initial plan fail
Meet with clients, stakeholders and project managers to report on project progress
Liaise with stakeholders and build strong working relationships
Requirements:
Experience in managing project engineering and execution teams
Experience in power/utilities industries would be advantageous but not essential
Budget Management skills and experience
People management skills and experience
In depth knowledge and experience in development of project execution and contracting strategy of small to very large projects
Experience of work on brownfield and/or aging assets
Strong understanding of engineering principles
Strong understanding of project management principles
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple workstreams with shifting deadlines
Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills used to successfully coordinate and direct project teams to positive deliveries.
A full UK driving licence
