• Institute of Prion Diseases This role is part of the Faculty of Education team, delivering education strategy for the Faculty and its divisions and institutes. The Faculty provides teaching and research in a wide range of subject areas to over 3,800 students each year from across the world. The Faculty Office provides effective management to its divisions and institutes, with over 1,800 staff across the Faculty as a whole.
About the role
As a key member of our Faculty senior leadership, you will be dedicated to supporting all who work/study in our subject areas. The Director of Education and Student Experience (DESE), in collaboration with the Dean, Deputy Dean and the Director of Operations, has overall responsibility for the Faculty's delivery of outstanding education. The DESE ensures that appropriate action is taken in relation to students and to education and matters that impact the student experience within the Faculty, in line with UCL policy, and that appropriate contributions are made to strategy and policy development. As delegated by the Dean, the role of Director of Education and Student Experience encompasses the duties of the "Faculty Tutor" as set out in the UCL Academic Manual. The DESE coordinates the activities of the Faculty Graduate Tutors. NOTE: UCL is currently reorganizing its EASE function. This may result in changes to some of the specific duties of this position and/or its reporting line(s).The post holder will be expected to implement change and support continuous improvement as this change process is undertaken, and on an ongoing basis after this. About you
The successful post-holder will have relevant and substantial experience of student support within an education setting and including a wide range of academic and pastoral support activities. Experience of the interface between these roles and those of Registry Officers and other corporate support services is also important. Significant experience of leadership within Higher Education, including management of staff and resources and building teams, is also important, as is experience in leadership, student experience and other areas.
