- Conduct quantity take-offs and prepare detailed estimates for mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection.
- Source and solicit quotes from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing.
- Collaborate with the engineering and project management teams to develop cost-effective solutions that meet project objectives.
- Create comprehensive bid proposals, including breakdowns of labor, materials, equipment, and other project-related expenses.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather critical information for accurate estimates.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, market conditions, and technological advancements to enhance the estimating process.
- Review and analyze project bids and contracts, providing insights to improve future estimating accuracy.
- Assist in value engineering efforts to optimize project costs without compromising quality.
- Maintain organized records and documentation related to estimates and bids.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator in the construction industry, with expertise in commercial, industrial, and residential projects.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection.
- Proficiency in estimating software and tools (e.g., Bluebeam, CostX, or similar).
- Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Effective communication and negotiation abilities to liaise with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
