B1 Licensed Engineers - London, United Kingdom - SkyBridge U.K. Ltd

    Default job background
    Description
Are you an Aerospace Stress Engineer with a good working experience of loads? Do you want to make the move into eVTOL, on one of the most advanced projects available in the market today?
We are currently searching for an Aircraft Loads and Stress Engineer to join our team.

In this role, you will have the chance to work across the full aircraft architecture from concept, working out aircraft loads from first principles and then performing structural analysis using these loads.

You will play a pivotal role in analysing and optimising the aircraft architecture across multiple prototype vehicles.

On top of all of this, you will be sat right next door to where your aircraft is being manufactured, assembled and even tested - seeing everything come to life right before you.

Our project is incredibly unique and cutting-edge, and we need the best of the best to make it happen.

Responsible for all aspects of aircraft loads (computation of aircraft flight and ground loads, compilation of load cases as per certification requirements, building tools using Python/Matlab, validation of the tools, aircraft loads focal point).

Perform dynamics / vibrations (Frequency response, Transient response, damping, shock, bird strike, motor imbalance) and aeroelasticity (flutter, divergence) related analyses on primary structures of the aircraft.

Working closely with different teams including Flight Physics, Systems, Flight Test, Structures to ensure structure is optimised for loads, weight, stiffness and regulatory requirements.

Perform hand calculations using classical methods as well as FEA to assess primary and secondary structures (metallics and composites).

An in-depth understanding of how aircraft loads are derived (aerodynamics, manoeuvre, landing loads) as required by certification authorities. Ideally this would be complemented with a strong background in Structural analysis (Dynamics, Vibrations, Aeroelasticity).
Masters degree in relevant area (Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering) with minimum 5 years experience in relevant field

    Programming, automation, scripting (Any:
    Python, Matlab or similar)

    FEA software experience (Any:
Altair Optistruct / Radioss, Nastran, Abaqus, Ansys, Simcentre 3D)
Strong knowledge of Aerospace regulations, standards and methodologies for loads derivations and structural analysis.

Excellent written and oral communication skills (technical report writing, giving presentations in design reviews, engaging with suppliers and other stakeholders).

Fatigue and Damage Tolerance experience (generating fatigue spectrums and performing detailed fatigue analyses).

We value all cultures, backgrounds and experiences, as we truly believe that diversity drives innovation.
Join our mission to bring better, more sustainable transportation to communities around the world.
