Project Accountant

Salary: 40k - 43k

Responsible for performing intermediate level accounting duties of assigned projects, such as revenue recognition, transactional accounting, complex invoicing.

Duties also include variance analysis on projects, interaction with Project Managers/Directors& ensuring that the WIP position on projects is correct.

Serves as a trusted business advisor to management related to financial insight and performance. Provides resolution of intermediate to complex issues. Ensures the project is in compliance with contractualobligations, as appropriate.


Invoicing:


Will generate, audit and distribute draft invoices and/or credit notes to Project Managers for review based on understanding of contract.

Obtains appropriate approval and distributes accordingly. Researches and resolves complex invoice matters.
Generates and reviews tax calculations to ensure accurate billing.
Monitors cash collections for assigned project(s) by actively communicating aging risk to Project Managers/Directors to determine necessary collection actions. Provides regular updates on when cash receipt can be expected to Project Accounting Manager.


Financial Analysis:

Researches and responds to project related questions, including questions from management. Will produce adhoc and monthly reporting for assigned business area. Provides recommendation to primary internal clients. Will track risk and opportunities on assignedprojects.


Financial Reporting:


Reviews assigned project and/or business area WIP report for accuracy, reporting, analysis and variance explanation for projects; identifies and communicates financial risk & opportunities.

Maintains project budgets and forecasts through collaboration withProject Managers to aid accurate financial reporting. Works with Project Accounting Manager on annual budget and adhoc forecasting.


Projects:


Understands the project opening process within the business & the necessary documentation that is required alongside the expected metrics the business should be achieving.

Understands the structures within the business and is able to demonstrate an understandingof how the different P&L's operate.
Communicates project financial information to management for assigned project and/or business area. Identifies and communicates material variances.

Compiles project financial data as required for assigned project and/or business area; notifies appropriate level of management with material variances.

Supports evaluation, development and implementation of project accounting tools & procedures that enhance and improve overall results of assigned project and/or business area.

May assist by providing documentation to support the proposal process.

Complexity and volume includes at least one of the following: joint ventures, reporting in currencies other than domestic, major frameworks, multiple contracts, multiple task orders, and/or purchase orders.


Requirements:
Intermediate Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint
Basic knowledge of Power Query Editor (Excel)
Basic knowledge of percent complete accounting
Intermediate technical accounting knowledge
Intermediate knowledge of Financial Statement analysis
Basic knowledge of foreign currency terminology and concepts
