Band 3 Speech and Language Therapy Assistant,Newham Service to Schools

Following additional funding, Newham's Speech and Language Therapy Service is expanding. We are looking to recruit an innovative, creative, passionate and committed Speech and Language Therapy Assistant (SLTA). Bring your skills and ideas to our supportive team to help us deliver change and new services together.


We work with children of school age who have speech, language and communication needs, including autism, complex needs and developmental language disorder.

Children are aged from 4 years up to 16 years, and there may be opportunities to work with children within nursery settings.


Our office is in a community clinic, from where the team go out to primary and secondary schools within Newham.

There is a well-established Buy-In Traded Services offer to schools, as well as a core service which provides assessment of children and universal training for school staff and parents.

Our team works very closely with other agencies such as Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Paediatricians and school SENCos. We are a committed, creative and supportive team consisting of Speech and Language Therapists and SLTAs.


The role will include:


  • Supporting the Speech and Language Therapists during assessments
  • Supporting the Speech and Language Therapy team with any administrative tasks
  • Contacting parents to book in appointments
  • Supporting the team when running training sessions either in person or on virtual platforms
  • Following training and discussion with a Speech and Language Therapist, running therapy intervention programmes and training sessions in schools
