Court of Protection work is a very complex area of the law dealing with people who are often vulnerable due to their own mental incapacity or a disability or some other factor.

Such individuals may have suffered an accident or have been born with a disability or alternatively they may have a degenerative condition such as Alzheimer's.

Lawyers within the team are there to advise clients or their carers on everything from social welfare to issues relating to a person's financial circumstances.

The Benefits Advisor is a specialist within the team who advises specifically on the benefits that might be available to a vulnerable person to ensure they are supported as much as possible.

For instance, the Benefits Advisor may advise on benefits in relation to areas such as housing support, disability benefit, bereavement, sickness, unemployment, children and general care.

The Benefits Advisor can also appeal DWP, HMRC and local authority decisions in relation to benefits.

The role of the Administrative Assistant is to support and work with the Benefits Advisor in providing this advice.
