Unleash Your Potential: Elevate Your Career with Us

The Internal Medicine residency program spans three years and is meticulously structured to provide advanced training in Internal Medicine, fulfilling the requirements set by the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ECVIM).

We are in search of a motivated and committed individual to join our internal medicine residency program. Prospective candidates must hold a veterinary degree from an EAEVE-approved veterinary school and be registered members of the RCVS. They should have completed a one-year rotating internship or have accumulated a minimum of two years in clinical practice, acquiring skills and experience equivalent to those gained during an internship, as per EBVS guidelines.

This residency program offers a comprehensive training experience in small animal internal medicine, encompassing a diverse range of medical conditions and sophisticated diagnostic and therapeutic methods. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with board-certified specialists, accruing invaluable clinical insights and mentorship within a supportive framework. Additionally, we allocate ample time for off-clinic pursuits such as externships, research endeavours, study leave, and holiday. Participation in an 'out of hours' rotation is also anticipated.

    Work in a state-of-the-art Hospital

Pride Veterinary Referrals, affiliated with IVC Evidensia, serves as the small animal referral hospital for the Scarsdale Veterinary Group. As part of a multi-species practice spanning 12 sites in the East Midlands and boasting over 300 dedicated staff, we play a pivotal role in offering specialized services.

Our hospital, providing 24/7 veterinary care, is equipped with 5 operating theatres, a comprehensive imaging suite featuring X-Ray, CT, MRI, and Ultrasound capabilities, and an on-site Laboratory. We excel in various specialties, including anaesthesia, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, neurology, and ophthalmology. Additionally, our facility offers on-site rehabilitation services, encompassing physiotherapy and hydrotherapy.

Supported by a committed night team, we maintain a close partnership with the University of Nottingham. Our collaboration extends to the inclusion of veterinary students who rotate through our first opinion and referral services at Pride.

Situated at the outskirts of Derby city centre, our location offers excellent transport links to major cities via road and rail networks. Accessible airports, including East Midlands Airport and Birmingham International Airport, provide convenient travel options for both domestic and international destinations. Moreover, the breath-taking Peak District National Park is just a stone's throw away, presenting abundant opportunities for walking, climbing, and sightseeing.

    Work with a Specialist Team

At Pride, a team of over 100 seasoned and approachable veterinary professionals delivers expert-led care. Collaborating seamlessly, they strive to achieve the optimal outcome for each patient under their care. The team extends its services to external veterinary professionals and supports our first opinion vets. Complementing these offerings is our Vets at Night service, a committed leadership structure, and vital support functions including Client Care, HR, and Marketing.

Specifically, our Internal Medicine team comprises 3-4 Diplomates, 4 Residents, and 2 Interns. This dynamic group works alongside a dedicated Medicine Nurse team and Service Manager, collectively ensuring a comprehensive and efficient approach to veterinary care.

    What We're Looking For

Candidates should have completed a minimum 12-month rotating internship or possess equivalent clinical experience in small animal practice, preferably within the UK. Proficiency in English, strong communication abilities, dependability, capacity to perform effectively under pressure, and adept interpersonal skills are essential. Membership in the RCVS is required for the successful applicant.
