No two days are the same as we support the United States Visiting Forces (USVF) in the UK.

Our outputs include the delivery of works; developing and implementing DIO/US Civil Engineering joint policy and procedures and undertaking Estate Stewardship on behalf of the Secretary of State to ensure the estate is Safe and Legally compliant.


Our large recruitment drive covers our centralised Head Office at RAF Wyton, and spans across 2 regions East and West which includes 6 major sites; RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall in the East Region and RAF Alconbury, RAF Croughton, RAF Fairford and RAF Menwith Hill in the West Region.


This is an exciting opportunity for an Additional Work Service (AWS) Support Officer to become specialised in the Facility Management and project construction arena.

The successful applicant will deliver outputs with some supervision from an Estate Facilities Manager and we are therefore seeking a highly motivated individual, with a passion to achieve results.

Person specification:


Supporting the Additional Works Project teams

  • Support Senior Estate Facilities Manager (SEFM)/Estate Facilities Manager (EFM) and colleagues on progression of contract mechanisms including Compensation Events; Early Warning Notices; Business Cases for Host Nation funded work and Contract Amendments; maintenance and regular update of supporting documentation and trackers to ensure accurate monitoring and progression of issues and tasks; support team on monitoring and progression of assurance and compliance activities.

Liaison with Commercial teams

  • Liaise and work with the DIO Commercial and Procurement teams to assist the Project Manager (PM) to deliver projects within the agreed project parameters, to include specific tasks such as processing Compensation Events (CE) and administer the change control process and chase up progress of Commercial approval for Delivery Agreements (DA)

Recording Project progression

  • Populate and maintain 'tracker' spreadsheets for actions between EFM and Defence Safety Authority (DSA) Fire Officer and EFMs and DIO Environmental, to manage progress through various stages and identify 'bottle necks' in the process. Attend Additional Work team and project reporting meetings as directed by the senior PM. Support the PMs with the issuing of reports as necessary e.g. monthly reports, Local Base Team (Operational and Partner) Meetings / Design Team meetings.

Career progression and Statutory and Mandatory MOD

  • Familiarity of MOD standards and systems through attending training and briefings/presentations; familiarity with DIO Additional Works Contracts and supporting processes; achieve and keep up to date with all DIO Statutory & Mandatory training. Also, within an agreed timescale incumbent to achieve an administration, Project Management or Facility Management qualification to Level 3.

Office support

  • Provide admin support to SEFM and EFM's to include but not limited to scanning documents, management of archiving system. Assist with updating the Command Infrastructure Delivery Plan (CIDP) on a rolling monthly basis, to include entering dates, comments and financial data from other sources so that as a minimum the total spend against each project is recorded.
  • Maintain the Base Health & Safety Management Plan and be the Safety Focal Point, update Health and Safety boards in line with MOD standards. Liaise with Health & Safety officers within DIO regarding any occurrences.

Desirable Experience & Skills

  • Facility Management or Property Management background.
