The Company
A leading Tyne and Wear based engineering company are now looking to grow their design team with the appointment of a Development Engineer.
The Role
- Working within the Design, Development and Engineering team to support continuous improvement, development, and engineering activities for both new and existing products.
- Involvement in moving new products from the development phase and into serial production, whilst working within our ISO9001 QMS system.
- Responsibility for management and implementation of product improvement and cost reduction projects to the existing product portfolio.
- Quality and Production support for existing products.
- Development and maintenance of Bills of Materials as well as component and product cost information.
- Supporting the introduction of new products when moving from the development phase into serial production.
- Engineering changes, product improvements and cost reduction programs to ensure continued market presence and profitability.
- Production of 3D CAD models and engineering drawings, as projects require.
- Understanding and implementation of relevant product standards and approvals.
The Person
- A background in design is essential.
- Ideally you will be degree qualified
Required Skills:
- In depth understanding of BOM structure and BOM development practices. A working knowledge of MRP software.
- A working knowledge of 3D CAD systems (ideally Solidworks) and knowledge of good engineering practice.
- Selfmotivated with the ability to work on multiple projects, often under pressure, with limited supervision. Although training and support will be provided.
- Attention to detail and a desire to get things right first time.
- Ability to successfully communicate with internal customers, suppliers, and development partners.
