    Mechanical Design Engineer - Modularisation
    Manchester, Warrington, Derby (Hybrid Working)
    We are Rolls-Royce SMR and we're doing something that's never been done before. That's a once-in-a-career opportunity for those excited by such a challenge.

    We are now recruiting for the exciting role of Mechanical Design Engineer - Modularisation, to be involved in industry leading, cutting-edge design project for a new type of power station.

    The role is suited to a degree qualified mechanical engineer (or equivalent) with at least 3 years' experience who will be support the design and delivery of the Rolls-Royce SMR modular frames or modular kit of parts including barriers, drainage, and flooring, as part of the Modularisation team.

    You will work within a core team responsible for the delivery of a standardised modular system, performing optioneering studies to determine optimal design, manufacturing, and construction solutions in keeping with the SMR modular build philosophy.

    Concept design solutions for the Rolls-Royce SMR modular frames or supporting kit of parts including barriers, drainage, and flooring. Leading to the down-selection of solutions to be taken forward for detailed design.
    Design of work packages to applicable processes, standards, and internal hazard requirements.

    This role will require technical design experience in some or all the following:

    Concept and design detailing of mechanical systems / components.
    Experience in the use of mechanical design packages. (Experience / appreciation of product lifecycle management software and processes. (Structural/Civil Engineering experience or integration awareness - Modularisation, Steel frame experience and calculations etc.
    Appreciation of design for protection against internal hazards.
    Appreciation of the principles of design modularisation and standardisation.

    Experience in the development of design solutions from initial concept through to detailed design definition using a robust Design Process.

    Utilising the systems engineering approach to design.
    Proven experience in the delivery of mechanical design solutions with diverse stakeholders and requirements.
    Applicants should be able to demonstrate competence with the application of codes and standards through design, systems engineering methods, and verification and validation
    Project management of local plans to work to deliverables milestones. (MS Project)

    We anticipate a paying salary of between £40,000 & £48,000, a performance related bonus of up to 12.5%, an attractive pension scheme with 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.

    You will also receive a flexible benefits allowance of £2,200, enabling you to create a bespoke package to suit your needs.
