Band C/D - PIP1 for Band C (£24,552 - £26,958), PIP2 for Band D (£27,690 - £31,434)


Hours: 37 hours per week

We have an opportunity for an experienced investigator to join ISOT. Applications will be accepted from PIP1 or PIP2 investigators.


Role Purpose:

Directing investigations and managing associated risk and safeguarding within the ISOT team. Ensuring that timely and methodical investigations are conducted accordingly.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Appropriately manage routine investigations into criminality
  • Interview and obtain statements from complainants, witnesses and suspects.
  • Operate appropriate SYP and external computer systems to research, gather intelligence and maintain records regarding individuals and investigations in particular CATS, Lynx, CMS and PNC, CASPRE and CONNECT. Work with colleagues and partners in obtaining information in the investigation and identification of suspects.
  • Conduct investigations; preserve and recover evidence. This may include the arrangement for the collection of documents/items required as exhibits. Make appropriate logs and records.
  • Systematically seek, gather, evaluate and present evidence as part of investigations.
  • Use appropriate interview techniques e.g. comply with legal provisions for interviewing. Produce admissible evidence.
  • Prepare investigation reports and case files.
  • Liaise with CPS and give evidence in Court.

This role involves the viewing and grading of indecent media of children


Skills and experience required:


  • Applications are welcome from Investigations Officers who are either PIP Level 1 OR PIP Level 2 accredited.
