Public Protection - Parks Principal Officer

PO3:
Starting salary £40,155 pa rising in annual increments to £43,356 per annum incl LW.


Lambeth Public Protection Service are offering an opportunity to be part of a new highly visible, flexible dedicated Public Protection Parks team.

Your focus will be on planning and delivering daily operational responsibilities, providing advice, guidance and assistance to park users.

The team will challenge and proactively respond to incidents of Anti-Social Behaviour, Violence Against Women and Girls and Serious Violence which may take place in borough parks, commons, and open public spaces within Lambeth.

You will be a skilled leader, able to lead the delivery of tasked and proactive patrols. You will fulfil the primary role of line management, focused engagement, enforcement, and investigation activities across the borough. The post holder will take direct and proactive responsibility for assigned team members.

The service will liaise extensively with the Parks Management Team, Elected Members, Business Improvement Districts, Community Organisations, Local Stakeholders, and other Council Partners.

The services will deliver effective engagement, enforcement and identify the best approaches for specific local neighbourhood needs.

You will be responsible for managing the delivery of relevant statutory provisions, responding to a wide range of byelaw offences which may have a negative impact on public enjoyment of parks and greenspaces.


About the role
This role is available as a fixed term contract or secondment opportunity.

This role requires effective engagement with a wide range of stakeholders, including safeguarding victims, interaction with alleged perpetrators, internal council departments, contracted service providers, and developers.

The role will also involve extensive engagement with Lambeth's residents to reduce ASB concerns, developing mutually beneficial opportunities for co-designing the delivery of high-quality response services.


The post holder will take direct and proactive line management responsibility for assigned members of staff to deliver effective Public Protection specialist services.


The post holder will be professional, have excellent communication skills, skilled at influencing others to improve standards, have experience in conflict management and be confident in working alone or as part of a team.

The post holder will be responsible for maintaining and accurately updating various databases, service systems and administrative duties associated with the role.

A knowledge of the relevant Community Safety information sharing practice's, Crime and Policing Act 2014, Licensing Act 2003, London Local Authority Act 1980, and Lambeth Park Byelaws is desirable.

The post holder should be prepared to work outside of normal hours, working evenings and occasional weekend working.
