    Job summary

    We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and experienced Healthcare Assistant to join our team, to cover hours a week over 3 days.

    The successful candidate would be joining an excellent administration and clinical team, who remain adjustable and sympathetic to the changes in general practice and the NHS.

    Previous experience of working as a Phlebotomist or HCA in a GP setting would be advantageous.

    Main duties of the job

    The working hours are:

    Monday - 08:00-16:00

    Wednesday - 08:00-16:00

    Friday - 08:00-16:00

    You must be able to demonstrate that you are an excellent team player and will assist the Clinical team in the provision and delivery of safe patient care.

    Experience of the following is an advantage:

    Blood pressure

    Phlebotomy

    Dressings

    New Patient Health Checks and NHS Health Checks

    Targeted chronic disease management

    Long term condition reviews

    B12, Shingles, Pneumonia and Flu vaccinations

    Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well being to enhance Practice QOF achievement

    Chaperoning duties

    Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GP/Nurses

    Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording

    Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation

    Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions

    Job description

    Job responsibilities

    Working in accordance with specific Practice guidelines and protocols, the HCA will assist the Practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

  • New patient health checks
  • Phlebotomy
  • Chaperoning duties
  • Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/Nurses
  • Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
  • Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
  • Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions
  • Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well being
  • Administering of flu vaccines, pneumonia vaccines and B12 injections

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)
  • Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience
  • Experience of working within a nursing team
  • Previous experience of blood taking (preferably in a GP setting)

    • Desirable

  • NVQ Level 3 in care
  • Qualified in Phlebotomy
  • Experience
