Leicester Adult Education offers a large and varied programme of educational courses. We have a diverse, enthusiastic student community, taught, and supported by well qualified, dedicated staff.
The service is committed to supporting the needs of the learners who are most disadvantaged, including those with mental health difficulties, learning difficulties or disabilities.
This means making sure the right level of support is available to remove barriers to education and training so that learners can make the most of their potential.
Additional Learning Support (ALS) is provided on a needs-assessed basis and may be identified for individuals or groups of learners.
This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a creative, enthusiastic, and skilled team of curriculum professionals. We aim to promote achievement, learner progression, independence, and empowerment. We are passionate about supporting learners through the promotion of inclusive practice, equality, and anti-oppressive practices.We have two part-time, permanent posts working 18.5 hours per week. However we would consider appointing to one full-time, permanent post working 37 hours per week.
You'll be based at the Adult Education College; however, you'll also need to travel to a variety of settings and schools across the city.
You'll be able to work outside of normal office hours, including evenings, to provide learning opportunities to a broad range of groups.

What you'll need
You'll have experience of engaging with adults with different learning needs as well as knowledge of a variety of adaptive learning resources and strategies.
With excellent communication and interpersonal, you'll be able to identify individual learning needs and making reasonable adjustments to support our learners.
You'll have experience of completing additional needs assessments and liaising with external bodies to provide clear information, quality advice and guidance.
Using effective management skills, you'll be able to provide decisive and effective leadership to the team and oversee the effective running of student additional learning services through the provision of administrative and organisational support to college staff, learners, and external bodies.
In addition, you'll have- Maths and English qualifications at Level 2 or above
- Level 2 IT qualification, or willingness to work towards it
