    Description

    Band 7 Occupational Therapist:
    Rehabilitation


    An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Rehabilitation Specialist Occupational Therapist to join and lead our rehabilitation team at Leighton Hospital.


    You will provide expert assessment and treatment for rehabilitation patients (including neurology) , and support the development of the therapy rehab team to provide excellent care.

    The post holder will be motivated, dynamic and committed to this post, and have proven expertise within Rehabilitation.


    Every effort will be made to accommodate special interests and all staff will be involved in Professional/Peer group meetings with opportunities for continuing professional development.

    To act as an advanced clinical specialist in rehabilitation.


    To act as a key worker for rehabilitation patients within the trust, closely working with the MDT, and external services.


    To act as a lead clinician in rehab services supporting the operational delivery, planning, co-ordination, and evaluation of the service.

    To be an active member of rehabilitation networks
    Flexible working environment and paid annual leave entitlement.

    To act as an expert source of knowledge, offering specialist clinical advice and support to other healthcare professional and agencies across organisational boundaries.

    ~ To contribute to the delivery of the service in a variety of defined clinical settings, which may include in-patient wards, out-patient and community clinics and the patients home.

    To respect the individuality, values, cultural and religious diversity of patients, contributing to the provision of a service sensitive to these needs.

    To gain consent for treatment and motivate patients to comply with treatment programmes, overcoming barriers such as dementia, cognitive impairment, hearing, visual or speech impairment.

    To undertake highly specialist clinical assessment, taking into account all relevant information and clinical reasoning to formulate evidence based individualised treatment plans in agreement with the patient.

    To develop and maintain good working relationships with other healthcare professions, social care and other appropriate agencies, to ensure integrated and high quality patient outcomes.

    To record and submit clinical activity data as required by the Trust in an accurate and timely manner.

    To be responsible for safe and competent use of equipment including the provision of support, education and training to other staff, patients and carers as required.

    To be an active member of the weekend rostered service in stroke care
    Evidence to support expert knowledge and clinical skills in rehabilitation
