    Lead Pharmacist for Cancer - Dudley, United Kingdom - The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust

    Description

    Come and join our amazing team in the Paediatric Emergency Department at Russell's Hall Hospital Dudley. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your knowledge in a specialised and rewarding area of the ED, whilst being supported by our practice developmental team to gain skills in plastering, ECG, wound care and much more.

    The area comprises of x4 medical assessment cubicles, as well as a isolation / treatment cubicle, x4 minor injury cubicles, and an adolescent room where patients can feel relaxed whilst having the opportunity to access game consoles or age appropriate games.

    There is now a dedicate Paediatric resuscitation area, where patients and families will receive 1:1 nursing care.

    The Paediatric ED is led by a paediatric lead nurse, supported by a team of staff nurses, sisters /charge nurses, clinical support workers , and play facilitators.

    Main duties of the job

    To provide the highest standard of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care as required within the Emergency
    Departments Paediatric Service.

    They will have a general understanding and knowledge base of children's health needs.

    They will be expected to work closely with the children's ward and PAU to ensure safe and timely patient transfers and collaborate working relationships. They will work as part of the team in supporting the senior staff on duty.

    They may be expected to take responsibility of specific areas and patients under supervision within the Emergency Department ( Depending on experience)

    They will be expected to attend paediatric resuscitations with supervision, and have knowledge around caring for a sick child in an acute care setting

  • First Level Registered Nurse with NMC
  • Nursing degree
  • Desirable criteria

  • Evidence of professional development
  • Skills/Experience

  • Experience of working in an acute hospital setting
  • Substantial post registration experience
  • Completion of preceptorship/support skills
  • Desirable criteria

  • Venepuncture/Cannulation skills
