Description

The Prison Clinical Psychological Interventions Service provides assessment and treatment for people with mental disorder who may present a risk of serious harm to themselves and/or others.

Referrals to the service are currently accepted from NHS colleagues, criminal justice social workers and forensic psychologists. Psychologists in the service work across the three prisons, often training and supervising other team members in psychological assessment/treatment.

Members of the service lead on or contribute to various aspects of the running of prison healthcare and contribute similarly to the wider psychology network across the NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde area, according to their managerial, research or clinical expertise.

There are close links with the University of Glasgow Clinical Psychology Training Programme and members of the psychology service contribute to the teaching, support and supervision of trainees.

Psychology service staff members are located either in HMP Barlinnie, HMP Lowmoss or HMP Greenock.

It is essential you have a Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS or HCPC, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology with current Registration with the HCPC as a clinical psychologist.

You should also have significant supervised clinical psychology practice experience in NHS or equivalent by a suitably qualified Clinical Psychologist.

The hours of this post are worked Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm.
