Santander Consumer Finance (SCUK) is one of the UKs Leading Motor Finance companies providing finance to a network of dealerships throughout the United Kingdom.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Financial Accountant to join our large Finance team where you will report directly into the Head of Financial Accounting.

The Financial Accounting team at SCUK is responsible for the monthly reportingof the trial balances, Profit and Loss, balance sheet and annexes to San UK and Consumer Madrid across our eleven active legal entities.

This is a technical role which requires the person to be able to write technical accounting papers, to take ownership and become the lead liaison person for producing the statutory accounts along with managing the external audits.

What you'll be doing

• Being the main point of contact for external audits, ensuring that all audit queries are answered on a timely basis and assigned to correct business users
• Preparation of the annual financial statements for three legal entities
• Maintaining year end working papers for three legal entities and responding to queries regarding the securitisation entities
• Ensuring the working papers are updated and relevant for the current reporting period, and being responsible for the replicating and improving on existing processes for this area
• Liaise with Gesban (internal finance team) with regards to the final accounts which are prepared in excel and Microsoft word
• Responsible for addressing and developing action plans for any control deficiencies raised as part of the external audit
• Production and ownership of technical accounting papers to share with group and external audit
• Attending the Santander UK technical accounting committee and responsible for leading any accounting change projects
• Submitting technical management judgement papers (MJP) on a quarterly basis

What we're looking for

• A fully qualified accountant (either ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
• Up to date knowledge of IFRS reporting requirements is essential
• Recent demonstrable experience of providing technical IFRS advice linked to financial services products
• Previous experience in Financial Services
• Strong numeracy and mathematical literacy
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Excellent written skills as will be responsible for technical accounting papers
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, being able to effectively communicate with internal and externa stakeholders across all levels of the business
• Attention to detail and accuracy
