Description
A global manufacturing engineering business requires a Senior Buyer. Applicants need procurement experience within engineering/manufacturing, and previous exposure to a category/commodity focused role would be ideal.

The Senior Buyer will join a team of Buyers and Senior Buyers reporting to a Procurement Manager. The Senior Buyer will predominately focus on subcontract machining, fabrication and mechanical orientated suppliers. However, previous experience of this commodity/category set would not be required.

Specific duties of the Senior Buyer include:

  • Supplier management and supplier development activities
  • Collaborate with engineering in regards to supplier quality and NCR activities
  • Some negotiations and T&Cs work, however focus is SRM against OTD/OTIF targets
  • Lead and support on sourcing/tendering activities within mechanical/machining category/commodity
  • Support initiatives to improve procurement team processes, systems, technology etc.

Senior Buyers should meet the following criteria:

  • Procurement, Purchasing or experience as a Buyer within manufacturing or engineering
  • Ability to manage suppliers
  • Happy with a predominately operational role, with strategic elements
  • Previous exposure to; supplier selection, tendering, T&Cs negotiation
  • Experience with MRP/ERP
