Description

As the Gardener for our care and education sites, your role involves being responsible for monitoring the health of all plants and green spaces, trimming trees and shrubs, fertilizing and mowing lawns, weeding gardens and keeping walkways clear of debris.

This includes general maintenance tasks related to our gardens including servicing garden machinery.

You will manage all tasks in line with New Forest Care's Health and Safety procedures, including wearing the appropriate PPE where necessary and have the ability to confidently use small and heavy machinery.

You will be liaising internally with members of the Estates team and will report to the Head of Estates.


The role will be located within the Estates Department but will involve significant movement between our various schools, care homes and educational venues in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.


The post holder will be expected to observe safe working practices in carrying out the required duties and ensure that instructions specified by the Head of Estates and the Director responsible for Health & Safety are adhered to.


Core Requirements of the Post

  • Responsible for ensuring that all gardens are monitored, maintain and grow
  • Have a full licence and the ability to drive with a trailer
  • Perform basic maintenance such as cutting the grass, emptying bins, managing weed control and leaf raking.
  • Keep gardens and green spaces clear of debris and litter
  • Ensure a safe environment for staff and children by adhering to safety and health regulations.
  • Physically able to move and use machinery
  • Service all garden equipment and machinery
  • Advise management on the cost of necessities
