  • Job description
  • This job is an exciting opportunity to help deliver the Flood and Coastal Erosion Strategies of England and Wales by ensuring our research and evidence work is compelling, relevant and impactful. As part of our research programme team you will work with our scientific experts on all aspects of engagement including project communications, workshops, report and other output formats, publication and dissemination. You will also work with the research managers to communicate and engage across all our work areas.

Because you will be involved with multiple projects and wider activities, you need to be ruthlessly organised, able to prioritise and pay attention to detail.

You will be a proactive and motivated self-starter with a flexible attitude. You will have strengths in building and maintaining relationships and know how to communicate complex messages clearly.

An interest in research as well as an appreciation of how research supports business change would be desirable but not essential.

  • The team
  • Our programme team is part of a wider flood research team based in the Environment Agency's FCRM National Directorate. We are responsible for delivering the FCRM R&D programme (£1 million annual spend and typically 30 active projects) for England and Wales. We work with partners across the Environment Agency, academia, consultancy and government. Most of our reports are published on GOV.UK
Experience/skills required- Ideally you will have some or all of the following:

  • Effective, proactive communicating skills
  • both written and verbal
  • A creative thinker
  • A willingness to explore different dissemination methods including videos and webinars
  • A completerfinisher with an eye for detail and good corporate discipline
  • A team player, but also a willingness to work independently
  • An ability to prioritise competing demands from multiple stakeholders
  • An awareness of project and programme methods and lifecycle
  • Interest or experience in use of social media
  • Contact and additional information
  • This is a permanent appointment.
We are a dispersed team with members across the country. Much of our work is carried out virtually but some travel and overnight stays may be required. We welcome flexible working patterns and, as a national role, location is flexible.
