Revenues Officer - Hackney

Unlock your potential and make a difference We are currently seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to join our team as a Revenues Officer in Hackney.

If you have a passion for financial management, negotiation, and maximizing revenue, this role within the Council Tax Enforcement Team is the perfect opportunity for you.

Revenues Officer

Pay Rate:
£23.57 UMB P/H

Key Responsibilities:
Engage in approximately 50% back office work and 50% call centre telephone work.
Maximize revenue through negotiations with debtors and analysis of Financial Statements.
Ensure effective collection of Council Tax, including aged arrears.
Make informed decisions on the most appropriate course of enforcement action.
Handle telephone and written enquiries with professionalism and efficiency.
Utilize system reports for tasks such as setting attachment to earnings and benefits, as well as tracing absconders.
Address enforcement agent queries and returns, providing debt advice and welfare benefits guidance as needed.
Work a standard 38-hour week with potential for up to 45 hours if workload and budget allow.

Primarily work from home with occasional attendance at the Hackney Service Centre, approximately once a month, for face-to-face interactions at evening summons surgery, team meetings, and training sessions.

Possibility of future attendance at Magistrates Court to assist customers attending in person.

Qualifications and Skills:
Previous experience in a similar role or relevant financial management background.
Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to make well-informed decisions on enforcement actions.
Proficient in working with system reports and tracing tools.
Empathy and effectiveness in providing debt and welfare benefits advice.
