Job description

We are seeking to appoint a Senior Research Fellow to work on the APPRAISE Study.

This is a new project funded by the NIHR Health Technology Assessment programme which aims to develop a new patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) to assess the impact of surgery for prolapse, incontinence or mesh complications on quality of life (QoL).

An assessment of barriers and facilitators to its implementation and use as an outcome measure in clinical effectiveness studies will also be undertaken.

The study is being led by Leeds Beckett University, in collaboration with the University of Sheffield, University of Oxford, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, and Norfolk and Norwich and Epsom and Surrey University Hospitals.

This Senior Research Fellow will be responsible for delivering the systematic reviews and qualitative evidence synthesis taking place within work package 1.

This will include developing the review protocols and search strategies, leading literature searching on specified topics, leading study selection, data extraction, validity assessment and data synthesis and contributing to the writing of project reports and publications for peer-reviewed journals.

We are looking for an enthusiastic person with experience in systematic reviews and qualitative evidence synthesis who will work effectively with the team of researchers and staff at Leeds Beckett University and the wider external team members involving urogynaecologists, health service researchers, paediatric and adult cancer doctors, fertility experts and patient experts supporting the delivery of this study.

They will also work closely with a research assistant who will support the Senior Research Fellow to deliver the systematic reviews.

You will have a postgraduate degree in an area related to health psychology/health research/social science.

You will have experience of undertaking systematic literature reviews (including qualitative evidence syntheses), ideally in women's health but this is not essential.

The role will also involve writing and preparing content for the review protocols, research reports, and study outputs and so excellent word processing and IT skills are essential.

Knowledge and/or experience of developing patient-reported outcome measures is also desirable.

The person appointed must be able to start work on the 1st May 2023 and this post is fixed term until the end of October 2024.

Closing date:
Tuesday 31 January :59)

Working here means you'll also have access to a wide range of benefits including our generous pension schemes, excellent holiday entitlements, flexible working, reduced study fees, subsidised fitness facilities and a lot more.
