- Work with the UK HSE team and the Huyton management team to support the development, implementation, and compliance/adherence to health, safety and environmental policies and procedures for the business.
- Monitor , analyse and report on the effectiveness of health, safety and environmental policies, processes and procedures, providing recommendations for change/improvements as necessary and take a hands on lead approach to drive results.
- Work with the senior management team at Huyton to drive compliance with legal and corporate health, safety and environment standards.
- Coordinate the site HS&E risk assessment process and implement and educate use of the process
- Coordinate the ISO 45001 conformance standards through successful audits.
- Ensure maintenance of ISO 14001 to the required conformance standards and maintain all aspects of the management system for health, safety and environmental
- Provide support to the business in projects and/or activities that have an impact on employee health and safety and/or the environment
- Conduct and participate in externally and internally-led site audits for HS&E with the responsibility for preparing action plans and following through on plan actions to close out.
- Coordinate and audit HS&E records for the business to ensure they meet the requirements for statutory compliance, standard conformance and insurance liabilities.
- Coordinate the HS&E Committee, and ensure the committee encourages and promotes best practices activities and initiatives
- Coordinate the First Aider / Fire Warden provision and any promotional activities and initiatives
- Coordinate organising of Occupational Health Nurse/Services to promote and maintain employee well-being, including organisation of the annual health surveilance programme and coordinate actions & learnings from it.
- Work with the site service providers to ensure compliance and focus on the effective management of and the handling and disposal of waste and promote the potential for recycling
- Create a safe and healthful work environment working with all levels in a positive and constructive manner to encourage interest in safety and to work with Leaders and Managers in maintaining standards whilst recognising the need to balance financial resources.
- Use all operational and plant meetings to promote and implement Health, Safety and Environmental compliance and improvement
- Strong communication skills
- Desire to create a world class manufacturing facility
- Experience in HSE with an emphasis on policy and procedure development, implementation and control
- Certificate, CIEH, DipSM/HSE or NVQ5
- Working knowledge of UK Health, Safety and Environmental legislation
- Membership in IOSH
- Knowledge of ISO
