- Post-graduate doctoral level training (or equivalent) in clinical or counselling psychology, including specific models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS.
- Professional registration as Practitioner Psychologist with HCPC.
- Further or pre-training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology.
- Doctoral level knowledge of clinical/counselling psychology including highly developed specialist knowledge of lifespan developmental psychology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, particularly the literature pertaining to two or more distinct psychological therapies for use with children, young people, adults and their families/carers.
- Skills in the use of highly complex methods of psychological assessment intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
- A high level of ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, highly technical, and clinically sensitive information to children and young people, adults, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
- Experience of working with complex mental health difficulties.
- Experience of representing psychology within the context of multi-disciplinary care.

We are pleased to offer either a preceptorship/development post for a newly qualified Clinical/Counselling Psychologist, working initially at band 7 whilst developing the competencies required at 8a or a qualified and experienced Psychologist wishing to work at 8a level. The post is based at Altham Meadows, Morecambe the base for the Bay Eating Disorder Team, but the post holder will also be expected to work in the Kendal and Barrow localities.
This would be an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to develop skills and knowledge in the area of eating disorders. An interest in acquiring skills in NICE guidelines recommended treatments for eating disorders would be important. A good grounding in CBT is expected and training can be provided for more specialist interventions.
The role will involve delivery of high quality assessments, formulation and specialist interventions to people from all age groups who have an eating disorder. Alongside other duties, the role will also involve providing psychologically informed guidance to other practitioners, provision of consultation, training, supervision and service development. About us Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area. Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care.
The Trust also provides a range of physical health and well-being services in the community alongside a range of partners in the Lancashire, Cumbria and Sefton area.
