Description
Vacancy - Shift Technician
Are you an experienced and qualified Electrical or Mechanical Engineer looking to further your expertise in a technician position and beyond? Do you have a background in an industrial setting, dealing with heavy plant and equipment? We are in search of an Electrical or Mechanical Shift Technician to operate within a variety of Bulk and Break terminals.
Your Role
As a part of this role, you will collaborate with the Engineering team in the Bulk and Break Department, ensuring timely delivery, continuous flow, customer satisfaction, and zero defects, throughout a rotating shift schedule. Your responsibilities will include conducting maintenance on heavy plant and equipment.
You will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance tasks, making modifications to various types of heavy plant and equipment, coordinating with operations to prioritize breakdown repairs, utilizing fault-finding diagnostic methods and equipment to minimize the impact of reactive maintenance. Furthermore, you will support the team as needed in various activities such as project work, QA systems, and Health and Safety protocols. It is crucial that all tasks are well-documented and performed meticulously in accordance with our Health and Safety policy and HSE regulations.
What you'll bring
Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of HNC or equivalent qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, along with experience working with heavy plant and equipment in an industrial environment, preferably in Quarrying or Bulk Handling operations. With a solid understanding of Permit to Work systems and incident reporting, you should possess extensive hands-on experience with relevant plant and equipment, including conveyor systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating equipment. Additionally, you should be proficient in troubleshooting and problems solving using diagnostic tools.
Familiarity with Programmable Logical Control or drive control systems and HV networks would be advantageous (Electrical only).
Knowledge of CMMS such as SAP and document sharing software, as well as effective maintenance strategies like RCM, PM, CBM & TPM, is a plus.
A valid Driving Licence is a prerequisite for this role. You must be prepared to work in a dusty environment due to the nature of the role/area.
