An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Research Practitioner II to support the delivery of the research and clinical activities carried out within the Unit for Paediatric & Population-Based Dermatology Research at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and King's College London.


The Unit for Paediatric & Population-Based Dermatology Research is part of the St John's Institute of Dermatology and is headed by Professor Carsten Flohr, Chair in Dermatology and Population Health Science at King's College London.


We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and quality-focused individual with excellent communication and time management skills, who will work well as part of our team.


The post holder will have had previous experience leading or assisting in the conduct of clinical trials and other research within the NHS.


After receiving the appropriate training and supervision, you will be required take over and manage ongoing clinical trials and to set up and initiate new trials and studies.

You will also manage and recruit patients to interventional and observational research.


Activities will include being the lead for clinical trials and other research studies conducted within the Unit for Paediatric & Population-Based Dermatology Research.

Being the Study Lead will entail setting up of clinical trials and studies, recruiting patients to research, performing clinical assessments, collecting data, processing samples and monitoring patient safety throughout their participation in research.

You will also mentor other staff and act as Line Manager for appropriate members of the team.


You will work closely with the Dermatology Consultants and be required to interact with a multidisciplinary department that includes Clinical Nurse Specialists and health care assistants, and liaise with collaborating departments and external centres including King's College London.


You will function collaboratively within a group of doctors, nurses and Clinical Research Practitioners to achieve team objectives and to maintain and promote the safety and wellbeing of research participants and ensure the integrity of research outcomes.


The successful applicant will have good organisational skills and be able to work both independently and as part of a wider team, demonstrate a flexible approach to work and meet deadlines using initiative and judgement to prioritise competing demands.

In addition, they will have excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
