    Job Description

    Beauty Writer

    The Independent is looking for a new beauty writer to join its eCommerce team on a six-month fixed term contract. The successful candidate will have previous experience in beauty journalism, with first-class pitching and writing skills, as well as a track record of working with social media. They must also have their finger on the pulse when it comes to new launches, popular brands and trending products, and have a good relationship with industry brands and PRs. They must also be able to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure. But above all, be enthusiastic and excited about this new role.

    Key responsibilities

    • Pitching relevant beauty ideas that will resonate with The Independent's audience
    • Writing beauty news, reviews, evergreens, features and first-person pieces
    • Work with the Audience Team to ensure content is sufficiently optimised for Search
    • Shoot video content as required for social media

    Skills and experience

    • Beauty writing experience
    • Strong SEO awareness
    • Knowledge of social and search trends
    • Familiar using CMS
    • Experience working across social media platforms
    • Photoshop skills, preferred
